Sometimes a family cannot cope with a gay or bisexual member. There is a tendency, particularly in conservative Christian environments, to reject the gay or bisexual person, cutting them out of their lives. The Bible has some very clear guidance on this.

Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Timothy 5:8 NIV

You cannot withdraw emotional and financial support from a family member and call yourself a follower of Christ. If you do that, you are denying the faith and are worse than an unbeliever.

It clearly goes against the spirit of this passage to make your relative’s life so difficult that they cut themselves off from you.
